Equity bank is one of the most popular banks we have in Kenya. Customers can deposit money from Mpesa to Equity account. To access the service, you need to have an Equity bank account or an Equitel number. You get an Equitel number by visiting any equity branch and request for one. You will get a sim card, which you can even use to make phone calls.
Depositing your money from Mpesa to Equity is easy and as shown below:
- Go to your Mpesa app or sim toolkit
- Click on Mpesa
- Select the Lipa Na Mpesa option
- Click the pay bill option
- Put the pay bill number 247247. It is Equity’s pay bill number. You can write it down somewhere for easier reference the next time you want to use the service
- For your account number, you have two options. You can either put your Equity account number or you put your Equitel number
- Proceed to key in the amount you want to deposit
- Key in your Mpesa PIN. Remember, you should not share your PIN with anyone to avoid theft of your money
- Before pressing the "send" button, confirm that all the details you have put are correct. These are the pay bill number, account or Equitel number, and the amount you want to deposit. Once sure, press send.
- A pop-up message from Safaricom will appear on your screen asking you to confirm the transfer.
- When you press okay, a confirmation message will be sent from Mpesa and Equity to show whether the transaction was successful or not.
Using this method is easy because it saves you a lot of time. You can also access the services anytime and anywhere as opposed to the physical bank and ATM services which are only accessible during specific durations. It is also safer to use mobile banking.
