The EACC Clearance Certificate is among the many documents that Kenyans may need in order to secure employment. It is very easy to get the EACC clearance certificate just by following the following easy steps.
Kindly note that one cannot apply for the certificate online and has to physically present the filled forms to the EACC offices. However, one can send someone to drop the forms on behalf of the applicant after filling and signing the forms accordingly.
Unemployment rate in Kenya has been really big and the onset of devolution created many job opportunities for the citizens. Besides, being academically qualified there are many certificates that one must present in order to qualify for various jobs.
Occupying some of these job positions requires someone who has the necessary level of integrity. The acquisition of the EACC certificate helps in making sure that the individual is in line the constitutional requirement of the Leadership and Integrity Act in section 13 in the sixth chapter.
One can get the EACC clearance certificate by doing the following:
- You can get the form from the EACC offices or by downloading the forms from the EACC website. Note that one cannot upload the forms online.
- After getting the forms make sure that you fill the self-declaration forms in two copies (duplicate). The form has details such as birth information, educational qualifications, language, marital status, nationality, reasons for declaration, employment information, and oath and affirmation among others.
- Next you will attach the national identity card or the passport, academic certificates (attach what you have such as high school, diploma, or degree certificates if any), and finally attach a copy of your KRA PIN certificate.
- You will then sign the duly completed form in the presence of a magistrate or a commissioner for oaths. The commissioner for oaths or the lawyer fills in the oath and affirmation page. There is a fee that one pays to the commissioner for oaths or the lawyer between 300 to 500 shillings..
- After submitting the completed form, next is the verification and acknowledgement of the application by stamping the two copies and the one of the copies is left with the applicant. One can submit the form to the EACC offices or to nay Huduma Center around the country.
- EACC does not issue any EACC clearance certificate, but they will submit a confidential report to the employing agency.

It is an offence under the Leadership and Integrity Act, 2012, to provide false information when filling the EACC declaration form. The offence is punishable by law to an imprisonment of 5 years or a fine of Kshs 5 million or both.
Note that not all Huduma Centers have the EACC offices. Therefore, it is wise to call a Huduma center before taking the EACC clearance certificate form there.
