KPLC is the national provider in the country.One can pay KPLc through Mpesa pay bill number.
KPLC came together with Safaricom to make the Mpesa services available to KPLC users. Its customers use Mpesa to pay for their electricity. Mpesa can be used for both prepaid and post-paid users. The Mpesa pay bill numbers are however different. Customers who use the Mpesa services have records of their payments. You do not have to go to queue for long hours in the KPLC offices to pay for your electricity.
You can pay for your postpaid KPLC bill through Mpesa as seen in the steps below:
- Go to your Mpesa App, Safaricom App, or sim toolkit
- Select Lipa Na Mpesa
- Select the pay bill option
- For the postpaid option, enter the pay bill number 888888.
- Enter your KPLC account number or meter next
- Enter the amount of money you wish to pay. The minimum amount you can enter is Ksh. 100 and the maximum is Ksh. 35,000.
- Enter your Mpesa PIN
- Before pressing OK, make sure you have put the right pay bill number, account number, and amount
- Press OK.
- You will get a pop-up message asking you to confirm if that is the right transaction. If you wish to cancel, you will have around 20 seconds to press “1” and cancel the transaction. You will need to repeat the process. If the transaction is correct, then ignore the pop-up message.
- Upon a successful transaction, you will get a confirmation message from Mpesa
KPLC will also send you a confirmation message confirming your payment. Note that all payments should be posted in your electricity account on the same day. If you want to check your Kenya Power bill, you can send an SMS to 95551 with the content being the first part of your account number.
Using this method of payment is convenient because you can do it from the comfort of your home or anywhere else and at any time of the day.
